Sri Datta Jayanti Celebrations at Shri Kshetra Ganagapur Dattatreya Temple (Nirgun Math)

Celebrated on Margashirsha Shudda Chaturdashi it generally falls in the Month of December. Cradle Ceremony (Palana) of Lord Datta on the 1st Day at around 12pm marks the beginning of Datta Jayanthi celebrations in Ganagapur temple. All the incarnations of Sri Dattatreya are worshipped with Shodashopachara Puja. Rathothsavam or Chariot Festival on Margashirsha Poornima (2nd Day) marks the Conclusion of Datta Jayanti Utsav in Ganagapur temple.

The Datta Jayanti Celebrations takes place at Ganagapur for Two Days viz;

The Most Widely Celebrated Festival of the Datta Sampradaya “Shri Datta Jayanti” is celebrated with Great Devotion and Enthusiasm at Shri Kshetra Ganagapur. This Occasion particularly attracts a large number of Devotees from various Parts of the Country as Ganagapur is considered to be the headquarters of the Datta Sampradaya. Lord Dattatreya is the 1st� Incarnation of the Trinity God viz., Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The Story of Datta Avatar can be seen in the 4th� Adhyay of Shri Guru Charitra.

Shri Nirguna Padukas at Ganagapur On the First Day (Margashirsha Shuddha Chaturdasi), the Cradle Ceremony (Palana) will be Celebrated in the Nirgun Math (Datta Mandir) Premises at around 12pm. Crowds of Devotees gather in the Temple Premises since Morning to have a Holy Glimpse of the Bala Datta Mahapuja being put into the Specially Made Silver Cradle by the Archakas. A Lullaby will be sung by the Archakas and devotees before the Idol after which it is taken back into the Temple. After the Celebrations the Routine Activities are carried on.

he Second Day (Margashirsha Pournima)� is the Day of Rathotsavam and the Utsav Murti of Lord� Dattatreya� mounted on the Rath (Chariot) will be taken out in a Procession till the Hanuman Temple at the East of the Nirgun Math and after Performing Mangala Aarti to Lord Hanuman the Ratham is taken back to the Nirgun Math.

This Year the Datta Jayanti falls on 29th December 2020 and the Pournima Rathotsav takes place on 30th December 2020.

Guru Paduka Pooja, Annadanam and Shri Guru Charitra Parayan are of Great Importance on this Day and can be Performed through Us
As this is the Most Important Festival of the Datta Sampradaya , there will be a huge crowd of Devotees at Ganagapur. Devotees visiting must therefore ensure that they book the Accommodation and Pooja well in advance.
